Mendocino Women's Choir Spring Concerts April 27 & 28
Bridget Dolan, Staff
The Mendocino Women's Choir Spring Concerts occur on April 27
and 28. This year, there will be a tango and a torch song, beebop and
blues, not to mention music by Mozart & Fauré, Paul Simon, Jackson
Brown, Carole King and Mother Teresa of Calcutta (who knew?). Belly
dancer Rosana Torrielli, percussionist Claudia Paige, and pianist
Barbara Faulkner will be joining the members this year to fill out
the ensemble for the concert.
If you have never been to an MWC concert, you are in for a
special treat. Regular attendees look forward from each concert to
the next year. This year the concert will be held at the Matheson
Performing Arts Center on Ford Street at the Mendocino High School
campus. There will be three performances: Friday, April 27th, at 8
p.m. and Saturday, April 28th, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets — $12
adults; seniors and under 12, $8 — are available from members of the
choir, at Out of This World at Main & Kasten in Mendocino, and at the
door. For further information, please contact Molly Warner at
mjwarner@mcn.org or 964-5472.

Earth Day beach clean-up and garden party April 22
Bridget Dolan, Staff
Earth Day 2007! Dig It! This Earth Day, Sunday, April 22nd, get
your hands dirty with the Noyo Food Forest! Join us for a people-
powered cleanup at Noyo Beach followed by a digging party and potluck
at the Learning Garden at Fort Bragg High School. The Blushin'
Roulettes will entertain us with lively bluegrass music while we dig
the beds for the spring garden. Meet at Noyo Beach in the north
harbor at 10am for the cleanup. Kids welcome! We'll provide trash
bags and gloves. Then we'll head up the garden (located on Dana
Street, on the north side of Fort Bragg High School) at noon for
food, live music, and some good ole' hard work. Bring a dish to share
and a shovel if you have one. Call Susan Lightfoot at 964-0218 if
you'd like to help make this event a real success. This is a free
event! No dogs, drugs, or booze! See you there!

Progressive Troubador David Rovics performs April 18
Bridget Dolan, Staff
David Rovics has been called the musical voice of the
progressive movement. Amy Goodman entitled him "the musical version
of Democracy Now!" and Cindy Sheehan called David "the peace poet and
troubador for our time." Since the mid-90's Rovics has spent most of
his time on the road, playing hundreds of shows every year throughout
North America, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. More
importantly, he's really good. He will make you laugh, he will make
you cry, and he will make the revolution irresistible.
David Rovics makes his return visit to the Caspar Community
Center on April 18th at 7pm. Admission is $10 with a sliding scale.
