Halloween in Caspar

Wednesday, October 31 at the Caspar Community Center Halloween activities will include: 4:30 to 6:30pm - kids Games and stories; 5 to 6pm - Kevin and The Coconuts play; 5:30pm - The Gorse Monster leads the parade; 6 to 8pm - Haunted House with soup and bread abailable. There's a small admission fee to the Haunted House. Come in costume for games, stories, music, parade, food and freshly pressed apple cider!

MHS Insomnia Film Festival

Students at Mendocino High School have entered a film in the Apple Insomnia film contest. The contest consisted of: a twenty-four hour time limit in which the students had to come up with an idea, film, edit and include certain elements presented by apple. In order to be considered by the judges they have to achieve lots of votes. With your help they could win. To vote and view the film, simply go to www.apple.com/education/insomnia
then go to the gallery link and sign in with an iTunes or Apple account. Search for '3001' and select rating and press the arrow to submit your vote. (If you also submit comments, they are reviewed by Apple prior to posting online). Good Luck MHS!!

A Gift of Music

The Gift of Music, brings three generations of Mendocino musicians to the Matheson Performing Arts Center on October 20th and 21st. On Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM, children and grandchildren join a group of talented musicians to come together for a unique concert blending rhythm and blues, jazz, rock and roll, and folk music, all original compositions. This group of musicians brings years of original musical compositions, theatre and improvisation to our community. All proceeds from these concerts are being donated to MUSE, Mendocino Unified School Enrichment which is a non-profit fund-raising organization that raises approximately $100,000 each year to fund enrichment programs in music, arts, sciences, athletics and more for the Mendocino Unified School District. Comprised of parents, teachers and community members, all labor is volunteer. Matheson Performing Arts Center is located at Ford and Cahto Streets on the Mendocino High School campus. Concert tickets are available at the door for $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Kevin and the Coconuts at The Mendocino Hotel

Mendocino Stories and Music Series presents Kevin and the Coconuts calypso steelband on Friday, October 12, 7:30 pm in the Garden Room of the Mendocino Hotel, offering dancing, libations and light fare in a cabaret setting. Kevin and the Coconuts plays a lively mix of calypso, soca, Latin and swing tunes with the greatest musical inspiration coming from the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Cuba. Abalone Cook Off

Don't miss the big annual Abalone Cookoff at The Caspar Community Center this Saturday October 6 from 10am to 4pm. There will be lots of abalone dishes to sample as well as silent auction, music, wine and refreshments and lots of friendly cameraderie. The event will help support MAPA, our local nonprofit supporting The State Parks.
